Youth groups in Taraba State have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Nigerian Army 10 Division in the state, describing the development as a major boost to security and peace efforts in the region.
The groups expressed their appreciation during a joint peaceful rally held in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on Wednesday.
Speaking at the rally, spokesperson of the Taraba People’s Movement, Comrade Umar Sani Bello, said the gathering was organised to express the group’s appreciation to the President for approving the new military formation.
Bello said the establishment of the 10 Division had generated excitement among residents and renewed their hope for lasting peace and improved security in Taraba State.
He assured the Nigerian Army of the people’s support and willingness to cooperate with the new formation in its efforts to maintain peace and protect communities across the state.
“Thank you to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who looked upon Taraba with compassion and gave us this mighty shield.
“We also extend our profound thanks to the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, under whose leadership this dream has taken concrete form. Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and our hearts are full,” he said.
Bello added that the group had prepared letters of appreciation for President Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Staff.
He said the letters would be presented through the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Jalingo, for onward delivery to the military authorities.
“This is our victory, and together we will build the peace our children deserve,” Bello said.
Creation of 10 Division Historic, Says Arewa Youth Assembly
Also speaking, the spokesperson of the Arewa Youth Assembly, Aliyu Mohammad Sani, described the creation of the Nigerian Army 10 Division as a historic development and evidence of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to addressing security challenges in the region.
Sani said the new division would strengthen security in Taraba and provide additional support for efforts to combat insecurity across the North-East.
He said communities in the region had long called for stronger security structures capable of responding effectively to their peculiar terrain and security challenges.
“This division is a fortress for Taraba and a shield for the entire North-East. For too long, our communities cried out for a force that understood our landscape, our fears and our hopes, and Mr President answered that call,” he said.
Sani also commended the reported increase in the salaries of military personnel, describing it as a significant morale booster for soldiers serving on the front lines.
According to him, improved remuneration would demonstrate greater recognition of the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families.
“I must also commend and salute two remarkable men, the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, under whose watch these historic milestones are being achieved.
“Your extraordinary commitment to ending insecurity has given this nation renewed confidence. You have shown what is possible when strategy meets sincerity, and we are proud to walk this path with you,” Sani said.
The youth groups said they remained committed to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening peace, security and development in Taraba State.
