Reps obtain Presidential nomination form for Tambuwal

Some members of the House of Representatives yesterday obtained the expression of interest and nomination form for the Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

Confirming the purchase of the form to Peoples Daily, Tambuwal media aide Imam Imam said some friends and political associates of the Speaker notified him that they have bought the forms for him.

Before yesterday, Tambuwal was said to have settled for the governorship of his home state Sokoto; however, the Speaker received the presidential nomination forms yesterday.

The Rep. members, led by the spokesman of the House Hon. Zakari Ibrahim, stormed the party secretariat at about 5pm and went straight to the office of the National Organizing Secretary Senator Osita Izunaso, who is in charge of the forms, for about 30 minutes, but they however refused to talk to journalists after the meeting.

When contacted to know the purpose of their visit, the National Organizing Secretary, who hesitantly answered the questions, told journalists that the lawmakers were in his office for a meeting, adding that it was “for us to discuss about the future of the party as it concerns the House of Representatives and they are coming back here tomorrow morning.”

Tambuwal’s spokesman, Imam Imam, in a text message also confirmed that some political associates of the Speaker bought the APC presidential nomination form for him.

“Earlier today, some friends and political associates of the Speaker notified him that they have bought presidential nomination forms for him”, he stated.

Tambuwal, who recently joined the party, brings to five the number of persons currently vying for the nation’s top job on the platform of the APC.

Others who had earlier picked the forms are former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso of Kano state, and newspaper publisher, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
