Bauchi CP warns politicians against inflammatory statements, thuggery

Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Lawal Shehu has warned politicians in the state to guard their utterances and conduct themselves for the success of free violence 2015 election.

Shehu made the warning at a CP’S Stakeholders meeting with political parties ,candidates and INEC representative yesterday in his office in Bauchi, saying that the warning became necessary as the 2015 general election is fast approaching

According to him we have called for tolerance and issue base campaign , free of inciting and provocative utterances,He said “we want to make be sure of zero tolerance of thugs , thuggery and political violence before and after the el election, adding that Police and other security agents were bent on ensuring violence-free election as well as deal with any politician whose utterances are capable of inciting violence.

“Let me sound a warning to our politicians to guard their utterance. They should always conduct themselves within the ambit of the law.”

The Bauchi CP, assured leaders of political parties in the State that Police will give them a level playing ground to conduct their political parties without any interference.

“We appeal to our politicians to work hand in hand with all security agents for violence-free 2015 election. We will provide a level playing ground to all parties to conduct their political parties without any interference.”

Lawal Shehu also warned against destruction of bill boards and posters of political parties and candidates, saying that will also bring disharmony among members of political parties and their supporters.

He charge politicians to give the police a 24 hours notification before organizing political rallies and campaign for effective security coverage “that will give way to any possible clash” he said

Responding the Bauchi state PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Hon Auwal Mohammed Jatau pledged to caution all his supporters and party members against any conduct that will the election process

Also responding the Bauchi south APC senatorial Candidate, Mallam Ali Wakili said they will abide by rules of the game and called on the police to be vigilante while carrying out their duties.
