Former acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has emerged as the substantive National Chairman of the party.
Mohammed, an erstwhile Vice National Chairman (North Central) of the party, who was elected at its national convention on Sunday in Abuja, promised to be open to all stakeholders and members of the party.
He promised to serve all with humility honour and transparency.
The elective convention was organized by the faction of the PDP loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike to elect members of the National Working Committee (NWC) who will run the affairs of the party for the next four years.
He charged all members of the party to team up to rebuild the party, adding that Nigerians are eager to have a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
His words, “distinguished delegates, on behalf of my colleagues in the NWC, I want to assure you that we are going to serve you diligently, without let or hindrance. Our party deserves to regain its lost glory”.
Also re-elected into his former position as National Secretary is Senator Sam Daddy Anyanwu.
Sources say the party may be seeing reasons to retain most of the members of the former NWC for their wealth of experience, especially Sen. Anyanwu.
Also elected through consensus option at the national convention were; Hon Umaru Nature, National Organizing Secretary; Barrister Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, National Legal Adviser, Diran Odeyemi, National Treasurer and Jugundo Haruna Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary among others.
