ABU awaits KDSG nod on reopening, as security beefed up

Ahmadu Bello university Zaria has said that it is still awaiting approval from Kaduna State Government for the reopening of the Institution.
The Director, Public Affairs Directorate, of the Institution Malam Auwalu Umar stated this in a statement made available to media in kaduna yesterday.
The statement stated that the State Government sent a verification team to the University on Wednesday, 20th January, 2021 to specifically assess ABU’s compliance with COVID-19 preventive protocols.
He said the University has enjoyed the tremendous cooperation of the team during the assessment tour.
It would be recalled that the University had onTuesday,12th January,2021announced its decision to reopen for resumption of academic activities on Monday,25thJanuary,2021subject to further directives issued by the Federal and Kaduna State Governments.
“The University Management wishes me to reassure all students, parents and other stakeholders that whatever decision communicated to the Institution will be conveyed to them immediately for further directive” the statement reads
Meanwhile the University said it has set up a modalities to contend any form of security challenges within and outside the campuses for a conducive teaching and learning as the University set for the reopening .
The Chief Security Officer of the University, Malam Ashiru Zango disclosed while speaking to the media in Zaria yesterday.

Malam Ashiru Zango said , University security department had a meeting with all the stakeholders, teaching and non-teaching staffs on a new security tips that will be used when the university reopen. .
According to him , the University is yet to receive any report from the security handling the case of kidnapping which have all suspect Link to the incident under their custody .
The security challenges in the educational institution can be traced to two main domains and which are internal and the external sources.
It could be recalled that on Jan. 20 Nigeria Police paraded 4-man kidnap gang who were allegedly terrorizing lecturers, students and other residents of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
