Abuja blast: Female Reps visit hospital, donate cash to victims

Female members of the House of Representatives led by the Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola yesterday visited the National Hospital to sympathize with the survivors of the recent Nyanya bomb blast in Abuja.

The female lawmakers also make cash donations individually to some of the victims in their various wards.

The lawmakers also took time to listen to some of the victims who recounted their ordeals even as they prayed for their quick recovery

Speaking with newsmen after the tour of the wards, the Leader condemned the terrorist attack and urged Nigerians to join hands in fighting the insurgence by sharing information with security agents with a view to forestalling any re-occurrence.

She also commended the management of the hospital for its efficient handling of the emergency and treatment of the victims whom she said are doing very well.

“The hospital has done very in handling the situation, and from what we have seen, the patients are well cared for”.

Reacting to the kidnap of the secondary schools in Borno, Akande said “I also commended security agents for promptly coming to the rescue of the abducted girls in Borno. About 80 of them have been rescued and we pray that the remaining ones would also be found soon. However, I am of the opinion that schools in those areas be shut down until we are able to quell the insurgence”, she said.
