Imagine when a person wants to sin but keeps looking around.
A person only looks left and right before doing something when they know it is wrong. The heart itself is warning them. That shame, that hesitation, that checking who is watching — that is a sign that the Fitrah (original clean nature) is still alive.
But the danger is this: If they keep looking around long enough, Shayṭān will give them a moment when no one is watching. And then the sin becomes easy.
Remember: You can hide from people, but not from Allāh (SWT). People may not see you. The camera may not catch you. Your friends may not know. But the One who gave you the ability to even think — the One who created your eyes and the darkness you hide in —He is watching.
Allāh (SWT) says:
“He knows the betrayal of the eyes and what the hearts conceal.”
You are never unseen. But you are always forgiven — if you stop before you fall. The moment before the sin is the real battlefield. The greatest Jihad is not after the sin. It is the few seconds before, when your nafs (your desires & urges) is pushing you, whispering:
“Just this once.” “No one will know.” “You can repent later.”
But the truth is: Every sin leaves a stain, and some stains need years to clean. The hesitation is a gift — don’t waste it. That discomfort, that fear, that checking left and right…It is Allāh (SWT) telling you:
“My servant, come back before you cross the line. ”Only those whom Allāh (SWT) still loves feel that warning. The real danger is when the heart becomes bold and no longer cares.
Three things to do in that moment
Say: “Astaghfirullāh” even if you still feel tempted. It will weaken Shayṭān’s grip. Walk away from the place of the sin. Moving your body breaks the power of the desire.
Remember the shame on the Day when secrets are exposed. The sin you hide today will appear like a mountain tomorrow unless Allāh (SWT) covers you. Allāh (SWT) loves the one who stops at the edge.
You don’t become righteous by never feeling tempted. You become righteous by stopping when the temptation comes.
The Prophet (SAW) said “that the one who leaves a sin for Allāh (SWT) will taste something sweeter than the sin itself”.
You won’t regret walking away — but you will regret falling. A sin gives minutes of pleasure, and years of burden. But walking away gives minutes of struggle, and years of peace. Choose the peace. Choose the light. Choose Allāh (SWT).
May Allah grant us d best of guidance and admit us into Aljannatul Firdaus without reckoning. Ameen Culled
