The Adamawa /Taraba Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has exceeded its target of revenue generation by hitting N105,945,138.44 (One hundred and five million, nine hundred and forty five thousand ,one hundred and thirty eight Naira from January to July this year.
Area Comptroller Kamarudeen Olumoh disclosed the development at a press conference in Yola Tuesday explaining that the command has recorded an increase of 22.17% so far out of the N86.72Million revenue target given to the command for same period.
Olumoh said the figure represents a 44,66%in increase over the corresponding period of the previous year by N73.23million when assessed in relation to the revenue target (N86.72m).
On anti-smuggling activities,Comptroller Olumoh stated that his command has stepped up its anti-smuggling war which led to several seizures including; 2,527 bags of 50 Kg foreign parboiled rices,12 motor vehicles 22 motor cycles,240 bales of second hand clothing.
Olumoh added that other seized items Were Cartoons of Spaghetti,Elephant tusks,Buffulo horns,Used Tyres and Tricycles,52 drums of petroleum products( PMS) .
