Some aggrieved staff of the premier, government owned radio station in Adamawa state, Adamawa Broadcasting Cooperation,ABC, have staged a protest over the position of General Manager.

Chairman of the Rattawu,ABC Chapter,Comrade Abdulaziz Jauro Maisamari while addressing the press at the weekend said their peaceful protest was informed by alleged attempt to imposed staff of junior cadre to head the station as GM following the retirement of the former GM last week.

Maisamari explained that the former GM,Aghaleni Ethan Dah handed over to the most senior Director in the station,in person, Abdulnaseer Ali as required by the state civil service rules but unfortunately two days later certain forces in the Ministry of Information and strategy allegedly attempted to put another man.

Maisamari stated that Abdulnaseer Ali was promoted to rank of Director in the cooperation in 2007 while the alleged favoured but rejected Director of Programmes,Mr.Micheal Musa was promoted as Director in 2017, noting that Ali worked with four different GMs as a Director but Musa worked with only one GM since his promotion as a Director.

He called on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to do the needful by ensuring the laid down guiding rules are followed strictly without fear or favour, lamenting that the move from the Ministry was nothing more than ethnicity and nepotism in the civil service.

“All we are saying is that, the right person should be given the opportunity to take the rightful position.”
