The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the August 15 election in Osun State, Najeem Salaam, has declared that the party is well positioned to win the poll owing to increasing support from residents across the state.
Salaam stated this while addressing party members and supporters during a general meeting held in Ejigbo Local Government Area on Saturday.
According to him, the ADC has continued to gain acceptance among the electorate, expressing optimism that the party would emerge victorious at the governorship election.
“Our party enjoys widespread acceptance among the people, and with the level of support we are receiving, we are confident of emerging victorious,” he said.
The governorship hopeful urged party faithful to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the election.
He also assured residents that an ADC administration would focus on inclusive governance, development and issue-based leadership if elected into office.
“This is a structured platform built on progressive ideals, and we are determined to promote issue-based campaigns devoid of rancour,” Salaam added.
Salaam appeared at the meeting alongside his running mate, Temitope Agiri, where he reiterated the party’s commitment to responsible governance.
Also speaking, the Ejigbo Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Ganiyu Abeni, said the party’s structure in the area remained strong and ready for the election.
Similarly, the Osun State Chairman of the ADC, Isa Adesiji, described Salaam as a candidate chosen on the basis of competence, humility and leadership capacity.
Adesiji urged voters across the state to support the ADC, stressing the need for a new direction in the governance of Osun State.
Party leaders at the meeting also disclosed that mobilisation efforts had been intensified across the state as preparations for the governorship poll gather momentum.
