The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed strong optimism that he will emerge victorious in the forthcoming governorship election, saying the electorate will “make history” by voting him into office.
Oyebamiji made the statement on Sunday during a meeting with members of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria in Osogbo.
He was represented at the event by the Chairman of Civic Engagement of the APC Campaign Council, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
The APC candidate said he was confident of widespread support across the state, adding that voters would turn out in large numbers to back him and the party at the polls scheduled for August 15.
“History will be made on August 15 as I will be elected governor of the state. I am confident and hopeful in God and in you that it will be my day,” he said.
Oyebamiji also stated that his anticipated victory would signal what he described as a return of Osun State to a progressive governance direction.
He stressed that leadership required seriousness and commitment, noting that he was prepared to deliver what he called the dividends of democracy if elected.
According to him, his administration would prioritise key sectors such as healthcare, education, economic development and social welfare.
He also promised to strengthen social protection programmes aimed at reducing poverty and supporting vulnerable groups across the state.
In addition, Oyebamiji pledged support for small and medium-scale businesses, as well as measures to encourage larger enterprises through funding opportunities, capacity development and improved infrastructure.
He further explained that his policy blueprint, tagged “PROSPER”, would guide his administration if elected, while urging voters to disregard negative campaigns against his candidacy.
The President of the association, Abdulrasaki Ejalonibu, assured the APC candidate of the group’s support, noting that members were encouraged by past recognition from previous administrations.
The association, however, urged Oyebamiji to ensure that campaign promises are fulfilled if elected into office.
