ADC presidential primaries: Atiku garners 68,823 votes in Sokoto

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar secured 68,823 votes to defeat two other contestants during the presidential primaries of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) held across the 23 Local Government Areas of Sokoto state on Monday.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the results of the ADC presidential primaries were announced by the Chief Returning Officer for the polls, Prof. Aminu Abubakar Illela.
He disclosed that Mr Rotimi Amaechi got 292 votes while Alhaji Mohammed Hayatuddeen got 319 votes.
Prof. illela, therefore, declared Atiku Abubakar as the choice of ADC members to fly the presidential ticket of the party.
Our Correspondent also reports that the event was attended by the ADC leader in the state and former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Manir Dan-Iya.
Also present were the senatorial candidates for Sokoto South and Sokoto North, Amb. Faruk Malami Yabo and Alhaji Mani Maishonko, respectively, as well as the state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Maigwandu, among other party chieftains.
