A pro-democracy and development advocacy platform, Africa Leadership and Good Governance Initiative (ALGOGI), has declared that the governance model being implemented by Uba Sani in Kaduna State reflects the emerging direction of leadership and development being demanded across Africa. This was contained in the group’s message in commemoration of Africa Day, which is celebrated on May 25th of every year.
The group said Governor Sani’s emphasis on inclusive governance, grassroots development, agricultural expansion, rural inclusion, peacebuilding and institutional cooperation places Kaduna in strategic alignment with the continent’s growing aspirations for stability, prosperity and people-oriented governance.
In the statement issued to commemorate Africa Day, ALGOGI described Kaduna under the present administration as “a practical example of how subnational governments can drive the African development vision from the grassroots upward.”
The statement, signed by the group’s Executive Director, Dr. Ibrahim K. Musa, said many African societies are yearning for leadership models capable of addressing insecurity, poverty, unemployment, food challenges and social fragmentation through inclusive and participatory governance.
According to the group, Kaduna State has increasingly become a reference point in Northern Nigeria due to what it called Governor Uba Sani’s “human-centered governance philosophy.”
“Across Africa today, citizens are demanding leadership that prioritises peace, economic inclusion, agriculture, youth empowerment and community-driven development. Kaduna’s ongoing transformation under Governor Uba Sani strongly aligns with these continental expectations,” the statement said.
The group particularly praised the administration’s investments in agriculture, rural infrastructure, support for cooperatives, healthcare expansion and efforts aimed at restoring confidence between government and communities previously affected by insecurity.
It noted that Africa’s future would depend largely on leaders capable of reducing the disconnect between government and ordinary citizens, adding that Kaduna’s current governance direction demonstrates “a governance culture rooted in accessibility, inclusion and developmental pragmatism.”
ALGOGI further stated that Africa Day should not merely be observed ceremonially, but used as a moment for reflection on the kind of leadership capable of moving the continent toward sustainable growth and democratic stability.
The group argued that the continent’s next phase of development would be driven not only by national governments, but also by visionary subnational administrations capable of translating African aspirations into measurable local realities.
“Kaduna State under Governor Uba Sani offers important governance lessons in the areas of peacebuilding, social inclusion, agricultural development and grassroots-focused policy implementation,” the statement added.
The group urged political leaders across Africa to place greater emphasis on policies that directly impact ordinary citizens, insisting that governance must increasingly become people-driven, development-focused and economically inclusive.
It also called for stronger collaboration among African governments in the areas of food security, youth employment, regional trade and security cooperation, stressing that Africa possesses the human and material resources necessary to become a globally competitive continent if properly managed.
ALGOGI concluded by stating that Africa’s long-term progress would require leaders “whose policies inspire hope, expand opportunities and strengthen public confidence in democratic governance.”
