Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has admonished 2017 Christian pilgrims from the state to be good ambassadors of the state and the country at large while in Israel.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Silas Ali Agara, gave the admonition during the 2017 farewell ceremony held at the Taal conference hotel, Lafia, the state capital yesterday.
According to him, “pilgrimage is a spiritual engagement that you have personal relationship with God. This is an ample opportunity to go and pray for the state and the country. You must shun social vices. Be of good conduct. Desist from unpatriotic acts capable of tarnishing your image and the state.”
Agara further told the pilgrims to abide by the rules and regulations of the Kingdom of Israel during the exercise as according to him, “government has put in place all the needed logistics throughout the spiritual exercise.”
The governor however assured Christians in the state of government determination towards promoting morality by continued sponsoring of Christians in the state.
Also speaking the Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Barrister Musa Aloko, commended Governor Al-Makura for priority accorded to Christian community in the state by sponsoring 100 Christians to perform this year’s spiritual pilgrimage in Israel.
