A High Court sitting in Dutse has issued a summon to former Jigawa state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, his brother, Bashir Turaki and former state House of Assembly Speaker, Alhaji Mustapha Makama Kiyama, to appear before it over an alleged six-count charges of corruption, fraud, conspiracy.
The plaintiffs are to appear before the High Court, in a suit No. JDU/23C/2014 instituted by the Jigawa state government.
The charges against the accused, according to the court, include: fraudulent use of public fund, property of the state government to secure and pay interest for a private company, Gethel Nigeria limited a loan amounting to N4 billion contrary to section 97 of the penal code cap109 laws of Jigawa state 1998.
The second count charge is using of local government allocation account and local government account committee to guarantee the loan of N4 billion to Gethel Nigeria Ltd, which is a breach of trust and contravene section 315 of Penal Code Law, Cap 109 Laws of Jigawa state 1998.
Also, in March 2006, the accused jointly fabricated a letter authorising the state Governor to obtain an internal loan of N4 billion from a bank.
The presiding judge of the High Court, Justice Ubale Ahmed Taura directed that the summon be served on the former governor and three others, who are to appear before the court on June 12, 2014.
