Almajiri Qur’anic education has sustained peace in Bauchi-DG

The Director General Bauchi state ‘Tsangaya’ Education, Sayyadi Aliyu Dahiru Bauchi has asserted that transforming the ‘Almajiri’ system of Qur’anic education in the state by governor Yuguda’s administration has effectively contributed towards sustenance of peace.

Addressing Journalists in his office, the Director General explained that the governor has since his inception created the unprecedented office of the Director General Bauchi state ‘Tsangaya’ education in order to assist him in identifying the problems faced by the Qur’anic teachers and their ‘almajiris’ [pupils] in the state with a view to advising him on how well to surmount them. Sayyidi Aliyu said the quranic teachers are the pillars of prayers that sustains the peace the state is witnessing today.” the quranic teachers don’t relent in their effort while praying for peace and tranquility for the state and the country at large.” He said. According to him, the state government has disbursed to the system the sum of N55 million monthly for the payment of N5, 000 allowances each to over 11, 000 Qur’anic teachers across the state, adding that the government has also donated cars and motorcycles to some of the ‘almajiri’ teachers.

‘’ Apart from that, modern ‘Tsangaya’ schools have been constructed in Buzaye, Sade and Azare towns in the state where pupils can acquire both Qur’anic and western education. By so doing, the problem of child begging associated with ‘almajiri’ education has drastically reduced because the children are being provided with adequate feeding in the schools’’. He said.

Sayyadi Aliyu who appealed to other state governments in the north to emulate the gesture, assured of the fervent support and prayers of the Qur’anic teachers and their ‘almajiris’ in the state to Governor Yuguda in all his present and future ambitions.
