Former Benue State Governor Chief Samuel Ortom has debunked rumors that he plans to decamp to the All Progressives Congress, APC, insisting he will remain in the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP.
Chief Ortom stated this on Monday during the Expanded meeting of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in the State.
Ortom said he is not going anywhere particularly as he is the leader of the party that comes with a lot of responsibilities.
“Even this one that they are calling me leader of the party with lots of responsibilities, they want to take it away from me. I will not leave it for nobody. APC has not invited me to join them. Am committed to the PDP”.
Chief Ortom stressed the need for the PDP to be united to overcome the defeat of 2023, adding, ‘there is no need to put blame on anyone over our loss. The elections have gone, we must draw a line and forge ahead. PDP is the only party that is strong and receptive to the yearnings of the people. With our new commitment, we will make the party more vibrant for tommorow:.
“We shall succeed in furure election. I do not have any friction with Abba Moro and Gabriel Suswam. Rumors that am decamping to APC is not true . We must respect the party at all times. Let us strategize to return to power. Now is time to plan ahead. We must plan ahead of them as they did to us in 2023.
Senate Minority Leader Sen. Abba Moro lampooned APC of mismanaging power in less than one year in office.
He said this means God’s anointing is leaving the party, averring that something is wrong with the party.
“They do not know how to use the power. So, we should remian steadfast as the good old days are coming back. Let’s us take the party back to the people. Let the people own the party and let there be transparency.
“Those waiting for me, Suswam and Ortom to quarrel, we are not quarrelling now or in the future. We may have fallen but we will rise again. Let the leaders remain united. Nigerian can’t feed or pay hospital bills”, Abba decried.
Also, speaking erstwhile Governor of the State and former Senator representing Benue North East Senatorial District Sen. Gabriel Suswam urged the party members not to continue to brood over the 2023 defeat suffered in the hands of APC, maintaining that the party should rather reflect on its mistakes, learn from it and move forward.
