Thousands of Ebonyi workers took to the streets of Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Tuesday to protest current economic hardship and high cost of living in the country.
The protest was based on the directives of the national body of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC.
The peaceful protest which started at Abakaliki township stadium took place along major streets in the capital city.
The protesters were chanting various solidarity songs and wielded placards with different inscriptions such as “ Tinubu end poverty in Nigeria, “ we say no to high cost of living”, “Tinubu end hunger now in Nigeria” , “we say no to hunger” , among others
Heavy security presence was seen around the town to ensure hoodlums do not hijack the peaceful protest .
