The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has called for the automatic absorption of Miss Talatu Adamu, the best graduating student of the University of Abuja as a lecturer in the university.
Candido, said that after her absorption, appointment as an undergraduate assistantship must be given for her masters, because she is entitled to get such.
He made this point yesterday when the Council hosted and honoured Miss Talatu, 21,of the Chemistry Department, who emerged best graduating student with highest CGA in University of Abuja.
According to him, “we feel elated that we have gotten one who has made us proud, we never had it before.
In her department, she is the best, with highest CGA.
“Also, in the overall faculty, she the best, and in the entire University she is the best.
“I told the Chairman of Kuje (her Area Council of origin) that he must go all the way to ensure that this girl is given what is due to her.
“And if the Kuje Chairman fails to do so, he should gather all the Area Council Chairmen, we must march to the office of the Vice Chancellor (VC) and get these things done, because she deserves it.
“This is a message to Abuja Indigenous Students Association (AISA), that one of you has made us proud. We are not looking at her from any perspective of what religion, or what language she is from, we are seeing her as an Abuja person.”
While making a cash donation of the sum of N500,000 to the girl, to help her further education, Candido thanked the parents for helping the her in achieving the feat, and I encourage them to keep it up.
He adds that : “This is not the first time this administration is assisting young ones especially girls from remote areas of the Council.”
Responding, Miss Talatu thanked the AMAC Chairman for the guesture and joining in celebrating her academic success, by showcasing her to the good people of the council.
She promised to be an advocate for girl-child education in the FCT and Nigeria at large, by sustaining the momentum and amplifying the clarion call for such.
