Amoo to Keshi: Invite the best

By Taofeek Lawal

A former Super Eagles assistant coach, Fatai Amoo (Arsenal) has charged Super Eagles interim coach, Stephen Keshi to invite the best legs for the remaining matches on the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying race. Amoo also a former coach of Sunshine Stars of Akure said Keshi must consider Nigeria’s interest ahead of his own personal ambition so that the Eagles will not only qualify for AFCON 2015 but defend their title in Morocco in January.

“I think the uncomfortable position we find ourselves right now makes it most compelling for Keshi to pick the best legs available for the four remaining matches whether the best players are enemies or friends. Right now it’s all about core and permanent interest not friendship rather key players who’ll assist him to qualify Nigeria for the 2015 AFCON final in Morocco.

“Even if those quality players are sworn enemies he should endeavour to bring them in for the sake of the AFCON ticket thereafter when the ticket would have been secured the enmity could as well go on unhindered.

“We can’t afford to sacrifice the AFCON ticket on the platter of friendship every right step must be taken to ensure Nigeria wins the remaining matches more so as we’re not as opportuned as Congo and South Africa at the moment.

The former 3SC gaffer however expressed his optimism when he said c that Nigeria will qualify for the AFCON 2015 final in Morocco.

“Yes, we’ve hope of qualifying for the 2015 AFCON final in Morocco though it looks quite tough at the moment but we can always overcome the difficulty if we’re determined. It’s quite possible we win the four remaining matches on the 2015 AFCON qualifying calendar if the actors, the players are ready to give their very best.

The Eagles in Group A of the qualifiers are in third position with one point from two matches behind group leaders, Congo and South Africa with six and four points respectively. The African champions will engage bottom-placed Sudan in a double header next month before playing their final games against Congo and South Africa in November.
