Ogun state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has forwarded two executive bills on Urban and Regional Planning and the State Council on Public Procurement and the Bureau of Public Procurement to the State House of Assembly for its consideration and passage.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, made this public at a recent plenary while reading two letters from the governor.
According to Adekunbi, the first letter was seeking for “a bill for a law to make provision for Urban and Regional Planning in Ogun State and for other matters incidental thereto or connected therewith”.
The second, he said, was seeking for “a bill for a law to establish the State Council on Public Procurement and the Bureau of Public Procurement as the regulatory authority responsible for the monitoring and oversight of Public Procurement, Harmonizing the existing Government Policies and Practices by Regulating, Setting Standards and Developing the Legal framework and Professional Capacity for Related Matters”.
In the meantime, the Assembly has committed the bill titled “HB NO 37/OG/2013, the Ogun State College of Nursing Establishment Law, 2013” into two House Committees on Health as well as Education, Science and Technology for further consideration.
Speaking before the bill was committed to the committees, the Majority Leader, Israel Jolaoso, said that the bill was essential to provide legal framework for the academic activities of the colleges of nursing in the state, adding that the proposed law would make provision for the setting up of a Governing Council for them.
