Ante-natal care encourages women to accept child birth spacing in Yobe

Ante Natal Care in health facilities across communities in Yobe state was identified as strategies used in encouraging women to accept the use of child birth spacing services to improve their health and that of their children.
This was the findings by the Yobe Media Team for Family Planning during their field trip to Dikumari and Ngelzarma primary health care centers in Damaturu and Fune local government areas of the state.
A 22 year old Hafsat Yakubu, a mother of six, and resident of Dikumari a settlement in the outskirts of Damaturu metropolis, said she embraced child birth spacing three years ago.
She said she was entertaining fear about it because of the various misconceptions surrounding it which is more pronounced in the rural areas.
The narrative is similar to that of Habiba Usman, a 25 year old mother of three who embraced the practice inorder to give room for proper care and upbringing of her children.
On the facility in charge of Dikumari primary health care center, Falmata Muhammad said child birth spacing has been accepted among the urban and semi urban women including many from the rural areas as they record seventy and above number of women from the thirteen rural catchment areas every month.
The Vice Chancellor, Profession Abu Kasim Adamu made this disclosure during the matriculation ceremony at the main campus Lapai, saying that the number was out of 7,979 applications received for admission in to the undergraduate programmes of the university this year.
Professor Kasim Adamu advised the new students to abide by the rules and regulations affirmed in their matriculating oath in other to be worthy in character and learning hence to justify the investment of their parents.
He urged the students to be committed to their studies while he warned them against their involvement in any kind of negative social vices like drug abuse, cultism, sexual harassment and exam malpractices but to participate in all lawful activities in the institution.
The Vice chancellor assured of better welfare package for students and staff however enumerated some of his achievements to enhance teaching and learning to include; NUC accreditation and taken off of collage of health sciences, affiliation with other instructions, construction of hostels to accommodate over 300 students.
Others were securing of TETfund projects, researches secured grants, infrastructural development from Nigerians and organizations also applauded the Niger state governor Mohammed Umar Bago for the ongoing construction of the IBBUL university teaching hospital in Minna among others.
The Niger state governor Mohammed Umar Bago represented by the commissioner of tertiary education, Abdullahi Adamu Mamagi assured of continued prioritizing education In additon to payment of scholarship to state indigenes to encourage excellence.
He reassured of timely completion IBBUL University Teaching Hospital Minna and it sustainable efforts in strengthening the state institutions to ensure global standard.
