The All Progressives Congress, (APC) Edo State gubernatorial aspirants screening committee has cleared 12 persons to battle for the party’s ticket.
The ruling party had scheduled its primary elections for February 22.
A statement signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu said the screening exercise took place between Thursday and Friday.
Those successfully cleared by the committee include Prince Clem Agba, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Lucky Imasuen, Anamero Sunday Dekeri, Pastor Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu, Engr. Gideon Ikhine.
Others are, Col David Imuse, Rtd, Prof Oserheinmen Osunbor, Blessing Agbomhere, Danis Idahosa, Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
The statement added that “Certificate of Screening will be presented to all the 12 Gubernatorial Aspirants at the Party’s National Secretariat by the National Organising Secretary, Saturday, 10th February, 2024”.
Peoples Daily reports that any of the 12 aspirants who emerge as the party’s flagbearer during the primary polls, will battle for the Governorship seat on September 21.
