The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has denied allegations that it has anointed specific individuals as preferred candidates for various elective positions ahead of the upcoming elections.

In a statement signed by the State Party Chairman, Hon. Atiku Sankey, the party called the claims “baseless and unfounded rumors” spread by unscrupulous elements trying to create discord and discontent within the party.

“The APC remains a democratic institution founded on the principles of equity, fairness, and internal democracy, and the Kaduna State chapter is firmly committed to these values,” Sankey said.

“The selection of candidates for elective positions will be conducted strictly through direct primaries or consensus among aspirants, in accordance with the provisions of the Party Constitution and Section 84(2) of the Electoral Act.”

Sankey highlighted that neither the party nor Governor Uba Sani, an “avowed democrat” with a record of supporting democratic values, has anointed any individual for any elective position. “This narrative is entirely false, misleading, and politically motivated,” he added.

The party chairman urged members and the public to dismiss these unfounded claims and avoid sharing unauthorized or misleading information that could harm party unity.

He also warned that the APC will take appropriate action against anyone whose conduct damages the party’s reputation.

“The APC will continue to maintain discipline and will not hesitate to act against individuals or groups whose actions harm the party’s interests,” Sankey stated.

“We encourage all members to stay calm and focus on the party’s vision for a better Kaduna State.”
