Prominent Niger Delta figure and Elem Kalabari monarch, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has lauded the Republic of Benin for fostering an investor-friendly environment that encourages regional economic growth.
Dokubo-Asari made the commendation at the Palais des Congrès de Cotonou, during the historic transition of power where outgoing President Patrice Talon formally handed over leadership to the newly inaugurated President, Ramona Wadagni.
Describing the neighboring West African nation as his second home, the monarch expressed deep gratitude for the “warmth, acceptance, and friendship” he has experienced there over the years.
“I have always enjoyed the hospitality of the great people of this country, and I am here on the invitation of the President to honour him and this great nation,” Dokubo-Asari stated.
The traditional ruler’s presence at the high-profile inauguration underscores his deep-rooted economic and educational ties to the country, spanning over two decades.
Dokubo-Asari holds substantial investments in Benin Republic’s real estate and hospitality sectors.
He is also the proprietor of the King Amachree International Children’s School, an educational institution that attracts students from across West and Central Africa, including Nigeria, Ghana, Togo, and Congo.
His journey to the capital city also featured a notable stop at the Seme border days prior, where he interacted with the newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-General of Immigration and paused for photographs with border officials.
The inauguration ceremony was a massive global gathering, drawing over 6,000 dignitaries, including world leaders, diplomats, business executives, and fellow traditional rulers.
Given his longstanding relationship with incoming President Wadagni, Dokubo-Asari attended the event alongside a high-powered delegation of Kalabari chiefs and close associates.
The entourage included: Se-Alabo Emi Membere-Otaji: Managing Director of Elscon Group and Deputy National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA),
Se-Opu Alabo Dr. David T. Briggs, Deuin-Ala XII of Kalabari and paramount chief of the Ancient Deuin-Ala Chieftaincy House, Prince Tonye T.J.T. Princewill, Da OGO VI and head of the Queen Elababene/Da OGO Group of Houses of the Kalabari Kingdom.
