Bandits attack: Masari, security chiefs visit victims, urge prayers

The katsina state Governor,Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has paid a condolence and sympathy visit to Kasai village in Batsari local government area over bandits attack that led to killing of a senior military officer in the rank of a captain and six other civilians.
Masari was accompanied by the state Commissioner of Police Sule Buba and the Brigadier General of 17 brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Luqman.
Speaking at the palaces of Magajin Kasai, the Governor asked residents to pray against a reoccurrance of the ugly incident.
Masari reminded people of the need to be their brother’s keepers though monitoring activities of those collaborating with the bandits to unleash mayhem on innocent civilians.
He said government had been up and doing, which led to the posting of the joint military, police and other security personnel to keep vigil that made the captain to pay the Supreme price.
He called for not only prayers but concrete action to report informants to law enforcement agencies for proper maintenance of law and order in the state.
Earlier, the transition committee chairman of Batsari local government, Alhaji Mannir Mu’azu Rumah informed Governor Masari that two days ago, bandits numbering over one hundred attacked Kasai Village.
Alhaji Mannir explained that the bandits first attacked the military personnel stationed in the area , killing the captain and burnt down the operational Hilux vehicle.
They later entered the village, he said visiting the houses of the six civilians separately thereby killing them.
He said the bandits made away with several animals, motorcycles and other valuables.
During the sympathy visit, special prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the deceased members of the Kasai village and the captain of the Nigerian Army.
