Benue MSMEs benefit over 1.35bn from Presidential Intervention Fund – BOI

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), Bank of Industry (BoI), Dr Olasupo Olusi, said over 27, 010 persons from Benue State have benefitted from the N1.35 billion disbursed to  Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs in the state from the N200 billion Presidential Intervention Fund.

The MD/CEO of the Bank revealed this at the Media activation and town hall meeting on the N200 billion Federal Government (FG) loan scheme for MSMEs and manufacturing enterprises in Makurdi last weekend.

Meanwhile, the Director General (DG), Bureau for Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation, Benita Shuluwa said the State Government has trained over 75,000 persons across the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state on soft businesses, skills learning, IT, and computer skills.

Represented at the occasion by the Regional Manager, BoI, North Central, Ozovehe Nasiru Ismaila, Olusi, who said so far N107 billion have been disbursed to about 900,000 beneficiaries across the geo-political zones of the country, noted that MSMEs account for 96% of businesses, 84% of employment and accounts for nearly half of the nation’s GDP.

The MD/CEO of BoI, explained that “We are gathered here for an important purpose: to share progress and build momentum in the implementation of the N200 billion Presidential Intervention Fund — a landmark initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to empower MSMEs, and revitalize our manufacturing sector.
