Benue Rebirth Movement, BRM has distanced itself from an online publication Nigerian Concord alleging plans by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Sen. George Akuma to ridicule Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
BRM in a statement signed by Daniel Atayi, Director of Youths, Benue Rebirth Movement, on behalf of the Risk Manager, BRM, Chief Odatse Peters Kelvin, Ph.D. and the National Coordinator, AVM Monday Riku Morgan rtd which was made available to Peoples Daily on Monday, said the statement authored by one Terna Michael and published in the online publication is ‘misleading’, ‘malicious’ and’ mischievous’.
The group also, maintained that the said Terna Michael is not a member of BRM, adding there is no faction in the group.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a press statement, being the publication on the Online Concord, of November 7th, 2024, and Authored by one Terna Michael.
” Ordinarily, we wouldn’t bother with a rebuttal to this deliberate mischief Maker, who hired the services of a fake online blog called the Nigerian Concord, which is known for publishing falsehood and blackmails in Benue State. But for the interest of the masses of Benue State, who may gullibly believe the sinister objective of this faceless group and their medium of communication, hence our rebuttal!
“The General Public and the Benue Masses should know that we don’t have Two Benue Rebirth Movements in Nigeria or Benue State, except one, which is the governorship agitating platform of the Benue South people of zone c senatorial district of Benue State and their allies in the zones A and B senatorial districts of the State respectively.
“Our movement is being led by a former Chief of Defense Intelligence, AVM Monday Morgan Rtd. And at no time did Benue Rebirth Movement issue any statement or held a media press conference to castigate the eminent personality and big name of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation-SGF, Senator George Akume, neither is this so called Terna Michael a member of the BRM nor this online newspaper-Nigeria Concord, our means of disseminating press statement, we, therefore distance our movement from these Two and their mendacious, irrational, unpatriotic, uncivilized statement that was tagged to us!
“We want the public to know that BRM is preoccupied with carrying out programmes in accordance with its roadmap that would establish an egalitarian society in the political power equations of Benue State, and at such, it is in good terms with the SGF, the Governor of the State,
Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia and all power Brokers of the State, in the spirit of negotiations!
“Though, the movement acknowledges that there would always be political feuds amongst players, but should never be at the detriment of the people or become a tool in the hands of political merchants such as these two(2) mentioned above, who feeds fat from the same.
“The Benue Rebirth Movement believes and also advocate for synergy of purpose, a tranquilize Benue State that has no iota of political tensions, but equal dividends of democracy to the people and the rotation of governorship within the tripod of the Benue senatorial zones upon which the state sits, and for a more harmonious brotherhood; at such, BRM would never promote hates, animosities, mendacity, egocentrism, bigotry and chauvinism.
“BRM wants all Benue indigenous to pray for their Leaders as instructed by the Holy Books, for them to be at peace and discharge governance, their duties and the responsibility of protecting lives, properties and the eradication of poverty”.
