Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, was warmly received in Riyadh during an official visit to the headquarters of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC).

During his visit, Matawalle expressed appreciation to the Secretary-General of the IMCTC for the coalition’s ongoing support, particularly through specialized training programs aimed at enhancing the Nigerian Armed Forces’ capacity to combat terrorism.

The Minister’s trip underscores Nigeria’s commitment to international cooperation in counterterrorism efforts. “We are grateful for the training initiatives provided by the IMCTC, which have significantly bolstered our military’s operational capabilities,” Matawalle stated.

Dr. Matawalle is also scheduled to meet with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss further collaboration on regional security and counterterrorism strategies.

The visit comes at a time when Nigeria continues to address various security challenges, including insurgency and terrorism in the country’s northeast.
