Benue State women yesterday staged a protest lamenting over spurious comments credited to Minister for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs Sen. George Akume against Governor Samuel Ortom and the people.
Recall that Sen. Akume had on August 30th, 2021 held a press conference in Abuja, alleging mismanagement of funds including security votes by Governor Samuel Ortom as well as accusing the Governor of over hyping herdsmen attack in in the State.
The action by Sen. Akume prompted the Governor to slam a 60 billion naira law suit on him.
The women who were mobilized from the 23 local government councils, numbered over 1000, dressed in black.
They carried placards with inscriptions like, “We say no to Akume and his conspirators who are against democracy in Benue”, “Benue people demand apology from Akume”, “we say no to grazing routes”.
