A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic (Party), Bode George, has called on the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, to publicly apologise over comments linked to him concerning the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
George’s demand follows the circulation of a video in which Gbajabiamila was reportedly seen addressing a faction of the ADC, allegedly urging them to sustain internal divisions within the party.
The presidential aide made the remarks during a birthday event hosted by a member of the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, where he commended the lawmaker’s political relevance and contributions.
He was also said to have advised Abejide to ignore calls from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking his defection to the ruling party.
Reacting, George described the alleged comments as inappropriate and a serious political error, urging Gbajabiamila to retract the statement.
Speaking on Arise Television, monitored in Abuja, the PDP elder expressed surprise at the development, noting that while errors are inevitable, the remarks were unacceptable in the circumstances.
He maintained that a public apology was necessary, adding that although he holds Gbajabiamila in high esteem, he disagrees strongly with the position attributed to him.
