Security expert and Vice-Chancellor, Bingham University, Professor Sam Leonard-Fwa has condemned the lackadaisical attitude displayed by the Federal Government in tackling insecurity in the country.

While giving a presentation at the 2nd induction ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Human Capital Development, Friday, Professor Fwa pointed out that 700, out of over 1,000 trained recruits had disappeared at the Nigerian Military School (NMS) graduation, after being trained by some of the Nigerian generals at Zaria, but the Federal Government did not deem it fit to search them out at a period when the country is faced with turbulent insecurity issues.

He said “We have trained over 1000 young ones in Zaria… in NMS, the day of graduation , about 700 of them disappeared” and lamented that the Federal Government has done nothing to search them out despite the threat such dangerous development posed to the security of the country.

In his words: “Don’t they have homes? Don’t they have families that wrote their undertakings? And you kept quiet in this country, nobody remembers that; they are talking Boko haram, women are carrying placards…”

He explained that “absence from military school for some days attracts a search, which attracts punishment as well, but this serious and sensitive issue seems to have eluded the Federal Government’s attention.

“You have shown them how to kill, you have shown them how to crawl with the aid of some Generals in this country, but they disappeared on the day of graduation and the country kept quiet, nobody spoke until the girls were picked.”

The Prof blamed the insecurity crisis on the Nigerian leaders, explaining that the faceless terrorist sects are the hidden faces of the corrupt and wicked leaders in the Nigerian Government, who are using the country’s diversity against is populace.

He decried the spread of corruption to the military, emphasizing that it was regrettable that the Military boys do not have appropriate weapons to fight insurgence while the over N1trillion allocated to it by the National Assembly was not accounted for.

He commended the late General Sani Abacha’s regime as ‘the best as far as economic development was concerned’, adding that Abacha’s regime, though autocratic in nature, improved Nigeria’s foreign reserve while maintaining the Naira value without the help of any country.
