The incident occurred shortly after the train departed Abuja around 11 a.m. along the popular corridor en route to Kaduna.

In a statement issued in Kaduna, the Commissioner-Designate for Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, said Governor Uba Sani swiftly directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Ministry of Local Government Affairs to mobilize for immediate evacuation, profiling, and treatment of victims.

He explained that SEMA was tasked with rescuing stranded passengers, providing emergency assistance, and ensuring that those in need of medical attention were promptly attended to.
