National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Oyegun has stressed that the federal government, under the leadership of the party, has made positive impact on security and the socio-economic sectors as well being of the citizenry had improved in the last three years.
Speaking at an APC rally organized to receive defectors to the party at the weekend in Katsina, Chief Oyegun noted that these policies were guided by the party’s manifesto of social welfare and progressive change in all spheres of nation al life.
The national APC Chairman noted that despite the recession inherited by the Buhari administration, the administration has been able to make positive impact on the national economy to the collective benefit of Nigerians.
He cited the four thousand mega-watt boost in power supply which has supported thousands of small and medium scale business in the country that rely on power supply.
Mr. Oyegun explained that when the Mambila hydro power plant is completed, it will provide additional three thousand megawatts to the national grid, which will aid the drive towards economic growth.
He called on Nigerians to support the APC in next year’s general elections, in order for the party to deliver more dividends of democracy for them.
In his address, the APC North-West zonal vice chairman, Alhaji Inuwa AbdulQadir welcomed the new defectors to the party and urged them to work towards the party’s success in next year’s general elections, at both national and state levels.
In his speech, Governor Aminu Bello Masari maintained that the defectors that joined the APC from other political parties were attracted by the policies and projects being implemented by the party at state and national levels.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Senator Alhaji Ibrahim Idah said as politicians from the state, they joined the party to show their solidarity and support to President Muhammadu Buhari from his political base.
The defectors include a former speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, a former campaign coordinator of the PDP in the 2015 gubernatorial elections, Bature Umar Masari and several bigwigs from other political parties.
