Buhari, solution to insecurity, corruption -Wamakko

Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko has urged Nigerians to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections as the party is determined to salvage the country from its current dwindling situation.

“A vote for APC is a vote for security, a vote for APC is a vote for good governance. This is the time for real change and we must make up of our minds to move from the old to the new”, he said.

Wamakko spoke in Sokoto during the presentation of award as the Best Security and Safety Conscious State Governor in West Africa in recognition of his strides in maintaining peace and co-existence in the state.

The governor also expressed his concern over the state of the nation, insisting that the country has being in a state of retrogression in many respects under the President Jonathan administration.

He urged President Goodluck Jonathan to apologise to Nigerians for his inability to put the country in the right path.

He said if he were to advise the President on his re-election bid in a simple language, he will tell him to resign. “This is my candid opinion as a patriotic citizen who believes in the advancement of the country.” Wamakko maintained.

 The governor however proffered that Nigerians need a change that will ensure total departure from the current situation.

“The governor also commended the conduct and outcome of the party’s primaries especially the presidential exercise which further built hope and strengthening of democracy in the average Nigerian.

“It was quite free, fair and transparent with purposeful vision for the country. Our future is our right and we owe ourselves the duty to protect and serve the country to prosperity by ensuring a new Nigeria with hope for all of us”, he stated.

He further noted that Nigeria’s democracy was fast changing in view of the foresight for having two strong political platforms that cuts across the length and breadth of the country.

“The two party approaches is primarily symbolizing the path of world political standard in a democratic setting”, he noted.

Wamakko who also commented on his APC senatorial candidature in the Sokoto central district, said it was not his immediate intention to join the race but the call by supporters and elders from across the eight local governments that constitute the district who prevailed on and bought the party’s nomination form for him.
