PVC distribution is a total failure – APC

The All Progressives Congress, Kaduna State Chapter has described the on-going continuous registration of voters and the issuance of permanent voters cards exercise as a total failure in the state.

 The party stated this in a letter addressed to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Kaduna State and signed by the state chairman, Hon. Barnabas Bala Bantex and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.

 The letter stated that the entire exercise resulted in failure either because INEC is not prepared for the exercise or it was a deliberate plan to exclude Kaduna State thereby depriving the good people of the state that are eligible to register and vote from exercising their civic right and responsibility in-spite of several postponement.

 The letter further stated that the leadership of the party in the state has gone round the entire state after the commencement of the exercise and observed that the PVC has recorded little success in that so many people were unable to receive theirs, and the explanation given by officials is that they’ve not received supplies from Kaduna.

“The continuous registration in most of the local governments has not commenced, where it commenced it is only done at ward collating centres using one machine contrary to the guideline of conducting it at every polling unit.

“In Igabi local government with over 400,000 registered voters, the exercise is only carried out in 7 centres; in Zaria local government where the exercise is yet to commence INEC is planning to conduct it at its local government office only.

“In one of the local governments in Southern Kaduna for example, INEC officials were shamelessly negotiating for financial inducement before they agree to go round for the exercise,” the letter stated.

 The APC leadership insisted that INEC is not prepared for the exercise and therefore urged that the entire exercise most be re-started to conform with the stipulated guideline where the registration is to be done at all polling units.

“If this exercise is not carried out in accordance with the guideline we are sorry to say that you are only inviting rancor and probably not prepared to conduct the general elections in Kaduna State.  In other words we suspect that you are only following the dictates of the ruling PDP at the expense of the popular majority,” Hon. Bantex stated.
