National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and two time presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari has tasked eligible voters across the country to strive to acquire the permanent voter card.
Buhari stated this while receiving the Katsina State executives of the party led by its chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa who paid him Sallah homage in his home town, Daura in Katsina State.
He added that the call for eligible voters to come out and collect the permanent voter card has become necessary considering the fact that the electoral body, INEC is insisting that only voters with the permanent voter card can vote in the 2015 general election.
“You cannot vote your candidate of your choice if you don’t have the card.
“If you don’t have this card no matter how you like a candidate you cannot assist him and no matter how you dislike a candidate you cannot change him. This card is your gun of exercising your voting right” Buhari said.
The former head of state therefore called on the party’s leadership in the state to embark on mobilization of eligible voters to educate them on the desirability of obtaining the permanent voter card.
He similarly appealed to those who became aggrieved during the 2011 elections and tore their voter cards to have a change of heart and ensure they obtain the new permanent voter card.
Earlier in his remark, the APC chairman, Katsina State, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa said they visited the former leader to wish him a happy Sallah and show their support to him as a leader of the party.
