From: Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

In a concerted effort at forstalling the frequent incidences of building collapse in the State and across the Country, Delta State Government has sealed off 15 buildings in Asaba and its environs.
This development was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Asaba, a copy made available to our Correspondent, signed by the Delta State Chairman, Taskforce on Operation Show Your Building Plan, Mr Chidi Nwuko.
The statement averred that developers of the sealed buildings failed to produce approved building plans within the stipulated time given to them or had none at all.
He added that the enforcement became necessary to stem the tides of building collapse, protect the environment and ensure adherence to proper planning.
Recall that September 12, 2020, a storey building under construction in Asaba collapsed, leaving one person dead and four others critically injured including the landlord of the storey building, a retired Navy Captain.
