Bwala defends Tinubu’s UK visit
The Special adviser to the president on policy communication, Daniel Bwala, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the United Kingdom, saying the trip was in the interest of Nigeria’s growth and development.
Bwala said in a post on his X account that the visit was aimed at attract investments that would lead to jobs creation and new opportunities for Nigerians.
According to him, Nigeria cannot achieve growth and development by remaining inward-looking.
“Some people are saying, ‘Why go to the UK?’ Look, I hope you all know that you don’t grow and develop Nigeria by sitting at home and waiting,” he said.
Bwala explained that the visit was designed to open doors for increased economic engagement, and lead to more investment inflows and jobs.
“This visit is about opening doors: more investment, more jobs, and more opportunities for our people,” he added.
According to Bwala, the visit has strengthened Nigeria’s relationship with the United Kingdom.
“His Majesty, King Charles has shown practicable commitment to partner with Nigeria on areas of mutual trust,” Bwala stated, adding that Tinubu’s engagements abroad were meant to place Nigeria on the global map.
“President Tinubu is making sure Nigeria is seen, heard, and respected on the world stage. That’s how you move a country forward, not by staying quiet,” he said.
He emphasised that such international engagement is critical to advancing Nigeria’s economic and diplomatic interests.
