A car dealer, Jafaru Galadima, 35, has appeared before a Senior Magistrates’ court, in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, for allegedly cheating woman of N2.3 million.
Galadima, of no fixed address, is charged with two counts of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Asp. Mu’u Jonathan, told the court that sometime in September 2013, the accused collected a Nissan Teana from one Mrs Betty Ogbaje, valued at N3 million and sold it for N2.3 million.
Jonathan said the accused gave Ogbaje only N1 million and pocketed the balance.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the Penal Code which specified seven years imprisonment or fine or both, for the offence.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.
The Magistrate, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ubani, admitted the accused to bail for N500,000 with a surety.
He ordered that the surety must be a civil servant on any Grade Level and must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.
Ubani adjourned the case until June 9 for further hearing. (NAN)
