COREN, RMRDC collaborate to establish inventory engineering

Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC)is collaborating to establish inventory engineering.

The president of COREN Engr. Sadiq Abubakar made this known during a courtesy visit to the General/Chief Executive Officer of Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Engr.

Emmanuel Kwaya yesterday in Abuja .

He said they are engineering based organizations that will be involved in exploring, acquisition and development in to commodities and products for import substitution and export promotion.

Speaking further, Engr. Abubakar said there is a need for synergy with relevant agencies for processing of raw materials to meet standardization for engineering and industrial use.

He told the director general that collaboration will also champion the development of codes and standards that will promote the commercialization and uptake of machineries for processing value addition of raw materials into commodities products. “ COREN is ready and interested in RMRDC “.

He explained that COREN is doing all its best as a regulatory body to ensure that engineers are certified and licensed to meet all the engineering global standards.

“This is because associations like engineers, technicians, craftsmen, artisans among others really need to come closer to see how we can promote this issue of materials”.

He emphasized that collaborations are also necessary in various areas like accreditation and licensing of laboratories involved in analysis and certification of raw materials for industrial use.

He said investing and promoting rural economy is vital like RMRDC is doing .

The president revealed that National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has challenged COREN to bring data of all engineering agencies in Nigeria for them to post engineering graduates to such places .

He added that RMRDC has an important role to play for the data collection.

Responding , General/ Chief Executive Officer of Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Engr. Emmanuel Kwaya , appreciate COREN for collaborating with his council.

“ We are always happy when we see our regulators visiting us. We are ready to work hand in hand for the advancement of the engineering and technology in our country “, he said

Kwaya said that the council had a proven track record of fostering technological advancements through various programmes like engineering competitions, skills, setting up engineering teams to design software, applications development, and design initiatives.
