Coronavirus: Group distributes palliatives to CAN, JNI in Kaduna

A Group under the auspices of , Global Peace Foundation of Nigeria (GPF) said it has distributed palliative to 1,300 households within one week in Kaduna State to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The GPF Country Director, Rev. John Hayab made the disclosure while distributing palliatives to Jama’atu Nasril Islam and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna chapters, yesterday.
Hayab said that other communities that benefited from the palliatives within the week included Mando, Mararaba Rido, Kajuru and Kaninkon.
“With the 700 food and other items distributed within the week and 600 been distributed to JNI and CAN today, Global Peace Foundation has touched 1,300 households as part of our contribution to alleviate hardship to people due to COVID-19 pandemic.”
The country director while handing over the palliatives to JNI said as a religious body, very close to the needy, they share a lot with the Foundation.
“We are one family under one God, so we need to help the needy, especially with the lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.
“We are also here to support government’s effort in addressing some of the challenges of the lockdown.”
He called on all faith groups to come together to support government in the fight against the pandemic.
Hayab charged the JNI to reach out to the needy and ensure that people observe the social protocol as enunciated by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
While receiving the palliative, the Kaduna State Secretary of JNI, Malam Ibrahim Kufena, appreciated the efforts of the NGO and assured that the palliative would be distributed justly to 300 households of the needy.
The Northern Coordinator, GPF, Sheik Haliru Maraya, who handed the palliative to CAN officials, urged them to give it out to needy persons around them.
Maraya also advised CAN to always educate their members to always observe all protocols to avoid contracting COVID-19.
“Regardless of our social status, our differences, we are one and equal to our Creator,” he added.
The Vice Chairperson Kaduna, CAN, Rev. Christ Ange, appreciated the NGO for the palliative, saying that it would get to the 300 households.
Ange appreciated the NGO for its service to humanity and urged it not to relent.
Items distributed included beans, garri (cassava flakes), maize flour, rice, detergents and soap.
