A non governmental organization Civil Society Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria, CS-SUNN has frowned at the adamant and deliberate refusal of Benue State to key into the National Strategic Plan of Action for Nutrition,NSPAN.
It should be noted that United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF had may year 2023 raised alarm that over 283,727 children suffer stunted growth as a result of malnutrition.
Co chair Steering Committee CS-SUNN Mrs. Aji Robinson said though NSPAN has been domesticated in Benue State since 2021, the strategic plan is yet to be approved by the State government.
She expressed this concern at a one day Media roundtable on ‘Increased Investment to Scale Up Quality Nutrition Services Project held in Makurdi at the weekend.
Mrs. Robinson notef that the non approval of NSPAN poses a persistent barrier, hindering the adoption of a multi-sector.
