Gombe state Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has called on the federal government to dismantle internal displaced persons (IDPs)camps across the country to pave way for them to return to their destinations.
He argued that maintenance of IDPs camps nationwide was not Nigeria culture and that something had to be done fast about the matter.
Dankwambo who received a delegation of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Gombe operation office on a courtesy call at government house yesterday said no amount of money was given by the federal government to rehabilitate structures destroyed by Boko Haram in Gombe state.
He said structures like police stations, schools which was destroyed by insurgents were yet to be rehabilitated by the federal government.
While appealing to federal government Dankwambo solicited their support to rehabilitate these structures in good shape.
He appreciated effort made by the federal government in tackling issue of insurgency in the North east which he said the military and other sister agencies have done wonderfully well.
In her remarks, NEMA Gombe office Hajiya Amina Ahman thank the governor for assisting IDPs in various camps with assorted food and cash to rent shelters.
She said the agency could not thank him enough for the support he rendered to IDPs while in camps.
