DSS Nabs Terrorist Leader in Niger
following weeks of intelligence-led surveillance in Niger State. His capture in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area, was confirmed on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
Mamuda had long terrorized communities along the Kainji axis, spanning parts of Kwara and Niger States, where he orchestrated numerous attacks, kidnappings, and killings.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed that the bandit chief was originally a member of the Abubakar Shekau-led Boko Haram faction before relocating to the North West and transitioning into large-scale banditry.
According to security sources, his arrest resulted from sustained intelligence operations targeting high-profile criminals in the region. He remains in DSS custody as authorities intensify investigations into his network and criminal operations.
