Delta State FA NGO donates sports materials, books to IDP Camp

A Non –Governmental Organisation, NGO Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED – Initiative) has donated sporting materials, books to the Internally Displaced Persons , IDP Camp at Uhogua near Benin City.
The donation which was part of activities marking the beginning of the year by CSED was carried out on Thursday, January 2nd.
Speaking with our correspondent after the visit, the CSED National coordinator, Edema Fuludu, said the visit was to show support and love to the displaced persons in the organisation’s ‘little’ way adding that it was part of the activities lined up to commence the year’s programmes.
“We are glad to visit the displaced persons. We went there to show them love, care and give them hope.it is not a good experience for them to be there but I believe that with our own little gifts and others coming to them from well-meaning Nigerians, they will have a course to live for.
“We took few items such of clothings, sports equipment and about 250 books to our children in the IDP camp Uhogua near Benin City.
“I was there with my family on 2nd January, 2020. We have been going there since early 2019. We have given table tennis board, footballs, jerseys, books, badminton rackets and nets, handballs, scrabble sets, chess boards, basketballs, volleyballs, cricket equipment and so on.
“We liaise with the Edo State Sports Commission Chairman Barr Dudu Orumen for sports council coaches that went to introduce the sports and trained them for five days in a row. The biggest sport we have brought is Netball and we set up girls as the pioneers who we are training to reintroduce Netball to schools in Nigeria.
“We will be building a standard court in that camp for Netball this January. The basic intention of the programme is to integrate the displaced and less-privileged into mainstream society using sports as a tool
“We have since 2017 trained over 200 primary schools games masters and mistresses within Edo and Delta states on fundamentals of football training. We made use of trained coaches as resource persons with at least a CAF C or UEFA C license,” he said.
Our correspondent gathered that efforts are on by the CSED to ensure that the U-13 football players in the camp will participate at the 2020 Channels kids’ cup.
