The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has charged the Kuje Area Council Chairman-elect, Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, to prioritize consultation with stakeholders before making final governance decisions.

Speaking during a “thank you” tour of the Area Council yesterday, following the FCT local elections, the Minister promised that the three primary requests made by the Chairman-elect would be considered by June, coinciding with the inauguration of the new FCT Area Council administrations.

Our correspondent reports that these requests include the construction of the Kuje-Pegi, Kuje-Abaji, and Kuje-Kebi roads.

Wike also took the opportunity to express his displeasure with the “betrayal” of the incumbent Chairman, Abdullahi Sabo, during the recent elections. However, he urged Sabo to remain steadfast in his newfound pledge to support President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Turning his attention to the successor, Wike cautioned Shekwolo against changing his attitude now that he has secured victory.

“Do not cut yourself off from the people who put you in power,” the Minister warned.

Earlier, the Chairman-elect, Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, pledged the full support of the Kuje Area Council for President Tinubu’s re-election. In exchange, he appealed to the Minister for the urgent construction of the aforementioned road networks to boost local infrastructure.

Echoing these needs, the Gomo of Kuje, HRH Haruna Tanko, drew the Minister’s attention to the community’s lack of basic amenities. The traditional ruler specifically requested the provision of pipe-borne water, and immediate construction of the Kuje-Pegi and Kuje-Abaji roads.
