Efiko Management Consulting has launched its champions of performance programme to strengthen organisational performance systems across businesses and institutions in Nigeria.
Speaking during the inaugural webinar session, the firm’s Managing Consultant and Chief Executive, Omagbitse Barrow, alongside other experts, emphasized the need for organisations—both public and private—to adopt structured performance management practices.
Barrow urged participants to look inward and prioritise performance-driven approaches to enhance productivity and achieve strategic goals, especially in challenging environments.
He highlighted that many organisations struggle because they fail to manage performance as an integrated system.
The session brought together professionals from human resources, strategy, and organisational development, who explored practical ways to improve performance outcomes. Discussions revealed that fragmented initiatives—such as isolated training programmes or standalone process improvements—often fail to produce lasting results when not aligned with broader organisational goals.
Participants also pointed out the difficulty of sustaining improvements after initial interventions. While many organisations invest in training and strategy development, the lack of coordination across departments frequently limits overall impact.
According to Barrow:
“Organisations often try to solve problems in isolation. But performance is not driven by one factor. It is the result of how leadership, systems, processes, culture, and people interact. What organisations need is not just activity, but alignment.”
Attendees actively engaged in the session, sharing experiences and reflecting on performance gaps within their organisations. Many expressed interest in applying the insights gained particularly in diagnosing performance challenges and designing more integrated solutions.
Several participants described the session as insightful, noting it provided clarity on why previous initiatives had fallen short.
Efiko explained that the Champions of Performance programme is designed as a platform for professionals seeking measurable performance improvements, offering practical tools, frameworks, and insights.
The webinar series holds on the third Saturday of every month and is offered free of charge as part of the firm’s commitment to promoting performance-focused thinking.
The next session will focus on the role of line managers in driving strategic results, with emphasis on translating organisational strategy into day-to-day execution.
As organisations continue to navigate increasingly complex environments, Efiko noted that initiatives like this programme are essential for fostering structured, evidence-based approaches to performance management.
