As the Muslims the world over celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir on Wednesday, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, said that in spite of the significant improvements in security in Sokoto State, other parts of the country still remain vulnerable.
Our Correspondent in Sokoto reports that the Sultan spoke at his Palace on Wednesday when he addressed the nation’s Muslim Ummah to mark the Eid,-el-Kabir festivities.
The glaringly elected Sultan applauded Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his invaluable support to the pilgrims both at home and in Saudi Arabia, lauding the early transportation of the pilgrims to the Holy land.
The Sultan further acknowledged the colossal giant strides recorded by Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in the last three years, while calling for sustained fervent prayers for peace, unity and even socio-economic prosperity in the state as well as the country at large
Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar also urged the Muslim faithful to specifically pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto, National Assembly members and other leaders at all levels.
Meanwhile, the Sultan immediately hosted Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto to the traditional Salah homage, accompanied by Sen. Wamakko and other dignitaries.
Speaking during the historic event, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto said that the gesture was in line with the centuries-old tradition, which is a mark of respect and reference for the Sultan of Sokoto in particular and the Sultanate Council of Sokoto in general.
The Governor felicitated the Sultan on the occasion of the Sallah, including all Muslim faithful in the state, Nigeria and the world in general.
Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto called on affluent Nigerians who afforded the sacrificial animals to extend their widow’s mite to their less-privileged brethren and even non Muslim friends and neighbours.
While acknowledging the peaceful conduct of the festivities across the state, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto commended the various security agencies for sustaining the fight against banditry, expressing delight with the successes so far recorded.
He also pledged the sustained support of the Sokoto State Government to them, vowing that banditry will soon be history, even as he stressed that tackling the menace of insecurity is the responsibility of all and sundry.
While vehemently decrying the menace of informants, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto said that a law will soon be promulgated in the state to treat informants SA bandits.
While vowing to sustain the tempo of the execution of development projects across the state, the Governor appealed to the residents to protect public utilities as their own personal properties.
According to him, as the 2027 general elections gather momentum, there is the need for all the stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully, devoid of any form of violence.
Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto further acknowledged the sustained support of the various strata of the people of the state to his administration, yet urging them to intensify fervent prayers for peace and socio-economic prosperity of the state and Nigeria at large.
Responding, the Sultan of Sokoto, who lauded the Governor for the highly cherished honour, said that the Governor direly needs the support of all and sundry to ensure the success of his people-centric programmes and policies.
He also admonished the Muslims to endeavour to live their lives in strict compliance with the tenets of Islam, calling for sustained prayers for leaders at all levels in the country.
