Benue State Government has raised the alarm that job racketers are trying to cash in on recruitment exercise into the State civil service to thwart it.
It should be noted that the State had last year commenced modallities for recruitment of persons into the State service.
Recall that last year December during the flag off of distribution of Palliatives, Governor Hyacinth Alia announced that in early 2024, the State government will begin recruitment into the Civil servant to fill gaps created by retirment of many workers.
However, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Tersoo Kula while briefing newsmen on Thursday after the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Makurdi, disclosed that the exercise has been halted indefinitely.
He also, disclosed plans by the State government to establish Benue Public Service Institute, BPSI to train civil servants, observing that for Over 30 years, some civil servants have not attended training program or promotion examination.
Said he, “the civil service remains the engine room of government, hence the need to train and retrain them for efficiency”.
Kula said the Governor issued a stern directive to the 23 local government care taker chairmen to stay in their domain to tackle issues of insecurity, stressing that on no account should any chairman leave his area without due permission from the Special Adviser, Bureau for local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
